        Management of your original Documents:

All original source documents:

  • Envelopes

  • Invoices

  • All forms and receipts

  • All other original source of paper information you sent us, are returned at the end of your business year after all applicable tax returns have been filed.

    • Personal Tax

    • Corporation Tax (if business is a Corporation)

This information when received is to be stored in the format provided until required to support future audits. 

The original source documents we send you, are returned in special document storage briefcase, batched, numbered and labeled by General Ledger (GIFI) chart-of-accounts.

In addition, there will be a copy of the business year-end operating statement, including a special GST/HST audit support detail report by expense category and summary to support GST/HST returns filed for the year.

Included will be a copy of the return filed with the CRA with the CRA return received confirmation number.

As part of the document return procedure, is our document storage cover letter regarding CRA's record retention requirement.

If you sent us your document as scanned files, we will retain the scans on our document management and data storage backup server for as long as you are on our service.

This way, in the event you experience the loss of your original files for the periods while you are a Trucktax client, we can provide the required scanned documents sorted by expense categories to support any audit or document retrieval reason.
